Have you ever back-sliden? Do those sins haunt you? Why are these sins the ones that stick to your memory?
I am a sinner by nature. I am not perfect, nor do I claim to be. I am very open about who I am and where I can improve. But there is that part of me that lingers on past sins. These sins are not the ones from BC (Before Christ) Trey, these are the ones from after committing to be more like Christ and failing.
I try to be as much like Jesus as I can. I want to be the life of the party, I want to tell the stories, I want to be an example. But I am not the example I need to be all of the time. Then the realization hits me, I am not perfect, I am not Jesus. But I am not using this as an excuse and I don't use this as a cop-out. Just because we fall, doesn't mean we aren't suppose to get back up again.
You are going to stumble, you are going to fail, you are going to let others down. Expectations are some times there because you are expected to not meet them regularly, but when you give it over to Christ he can make it Exceptional. The things we do on our own are plain and ordinary, the things that God does is extraordinary. God in your life is the "extra" everyone needs, including yourself.
The Fearless Factor for today is Exodus 20:20 "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of the God will be with you to keep you from sinning."
Moses shared these words with the Israelites after delivering the 10 commandments. Talk about failing these men and women were so afraid of God at this moment. This is the understanding that just because they were God's Chosen, that didn't make them exempt for judgment.
The sins from your past are all washed away and thrown in the sea of forgetfulness.
Micah 7:18-19:
18Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity And passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in unchanging love. 19He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea.
He allows us to remember them so we can focus on not doing these sins over and over. If you are trapped in a particular sin, Take it to God or even ask a brother you trust to pray with you. God is the only One who can deliver you and will deliver you. As Brothers in Christ we need to hold each other accountable and also help each other up when we fall.
Once again "Without the Mess, there is no Message and Without the Test there is No Testimony".
Be Fearless and Quiet No More.
Your Brother in Christ,
Trey Ore
